After the lottery machines @ElsaSchiaparelli, summer nights were still for odds at the Casino @Chanelofficial. #CocoChanel used to be at the casinos of #Biarritz, #SanSebastian or #Montecarlo with Hugh Richard Arthur Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, the never settling hearty prodigal. #KarlLagerfeld, whose snob affairs with fashions of #Chanel have been world topics, is a designer to hold a woman’s love. His aesthetic are her aesthetics. He would become a lifestyle, a way of life, a way of dressing, a way of thinking: the #Chanel way is the #Lagerfeld way. #Chanel found inspiration in men’s clothing, like men’s shirts and pajamas and used those elements to create a more comfortable and luxurious way of dressing for women. @KarlLagerfeld dressed the mariée, reality-bride, #KendallJenner, in a white-crème costume croisé and a skirt, not for every taste. Not my taste. But, but, but. The #ChanelCerclePrivé #Hautecouture show was again a compelling combination of theatre, performance #fashion, and #redcarpet ready’s: #VanessaParadis, #JulianneMoore, #IsabelleHuppert, #RitaOra, and #KristenStewart jetting in flamme fatale style. That’s how every Chanel mise en scène at the #Gr andPalais always end up out doing the actual collection. Call it bearable lightness of boring because it is more about the show than the fashion: less about the real characters, the clothes, than the spectacle of the celebrities. #Coco would have found it très vulgaire but #Coco is not here anymore. It’s #Karl #Karl #Karl. The fauna of fashion bows to #Karl like we pray to our Lady of Lourdes: we will endeavor to imitate your virtues, that we may one day share your glory, and bless you in eternity.
