GEHRY L’AGUERRI
It’s revealing that the building envelope is often called the building ‘skin’. It, much like the skin of our bodies, protects what is inside from the suffering exposure. The connection between fashion and architecture harkens back to the crudely stitched animal skins used in both disciplines, as clothing and tents. As both disciplines developed from their humble beginnings, the symbiotic relationship between fashion and architecture still remains. The building skin also serves another function, it presents a face to the street, and the outside world. The exterior treatment and visible form may deceive what it covers, like Frank Gehry’s buildings, or #JunyaWatanabe’s. In fashion, architecture has helped introduce the use of thin, flexible metals and plastics, and lightweight glass, while architects have integrated pleating, draping, and tailoring techniques in to their built form, some like @ChalayanStudio, have even made the leap to hybrid a double purpose as clothing and furniture.

Frank Gehry was born in Toron to, #Canada on February 28, 1929. After U. of So#Cali & @Harvard, Gehry launched his architectural office in #LA in 1962. @FondationLV, Frank Gehry compassed artistic integrity and charismatic spaces as he did in the #Guggenheim #Museum #Bilbao and the #WaltDisney #Concert #Hall in #LosAngeles. At the #FondationLouisVuit ton #Gehry found inspiration in soaring glass- and-steel structures of the 19th.c , including the Jardin’s own #Palmarium, a lavish showcase for exotic trees, plants, and birds that was built on the site in 1893 and demolished in 1934. The center’s design features a number of the hallmarks—voluptuous swirls, dynamic asymmetries, an irrepressible optimism. Only here, glass replaced metal (or fabric) as the defining material. “The idea of using glass was a positive force. It was essential in making the Fondation a true #BoisdeBoulogne building, in the spirit of a children’s park.”. L’enfant en nous restera le verbe de la création (contemporaine). De #Toron to, sa ville, à #Paris, sa muse, #Gehri s’amuse. Comme un éternel enfant. #HappyBirthday Frank!
