Illinois’ Creatures of The Wind was founded in 2007, by Shane Gabier and Chris topher Peters, and began showing formally with spring/summer 2011.

The collection takes its name from the lyrics of the song entitled “Wild is The Wind”, recorded in 1957 by Johnny Mathis..

The collection is driven by concept and narrative; inspiration is drawn from subversive subcultures, mythological themes, and youth culture, and is translated in to garments that are both artisanal and refined, progressive and classic. Couture detailing, cus tom laces and unconventional pairing of fabrics are significant elements of every collection.

Collaboration plays an important role in each season’s collection. Creatures of The Wind collaborate regularly with shoe designer Tabitha Simmons, jewelry designers Erickson Beamon, and musician Matteah Baim. Other significant collabora tors have included artist Stephen Eichhorn, musician Hisham Bharoocha, and musician Robert A. A. Lowe.

The collection is sold in directional retail outlets worldwide, including Ikram, Dover Street Market, Isetan, and RA.
