Now maybe #FritzLang belongs to high culture rather than mass culture, but anyway his work was repressing the obscene, the nasty, the antisocial, the violent underside of life. But with our #Time.istas, it is, rather the contrary for revealing it: not a quiet, kind, decent, bourgeois role-cultural model. What are the intellectual and artistic instills of a #Kardashian or a #Kanye The Westener? #FritzLang’s has done the interpretation for us, by way of our #2015 capitulation to the cheap insistence on happy cheap endings . Yet this insistence on appearance now seems to bring us around unexpectedly to the whole vexed question of postmodernism and postmodernity, which is surely nothing if it is not a wholesale repudiation of essences in the name of surface, of truth in the name of fiction, of depth (past, present or future) in the name of the eternally recurring here- and-selfie-me.
