#EttiPlesch, born Countess Maria Wurmbr and-Stuppach, took her surname from her sixth and last husb and, #Arpad. #Plesch, (1914 – 2003), was an Austro-Hungarian countess, huntress, racehorse owner and socialite. She lost two of her six husb ands to the same woman, #LouisedeVilmorin (1902 – 1969), a French literary figure, and owned two winners of the #Epsom #Derby, in #Psidium in 1961 and Henbit in1980. #LesBellesAmours by Louise de Vilmorin was dedicated to #OrsonWelles, with whom the author had a long affair. She was also engaged briefly to An toine de Saint-Exupéry, and had affairs with many eligible and interesting men in #Paris during the 1950s, including #DuffCooper, the #British #ambassa dor, and the #husb and of one of her ex-husb and’s former wives. The facts available about her life do seem to be focused on her love life rather than her mind, which seems a pity, since Les Belles Amours is a #novel about the #intellectualisation of #lust. She was a friend of #Cocteau, was #Malraux’s patron, was pho tographed by #CecilBea ton, and was praised highly for the delicacy of her writing. She rhymed brilliantly, dressing @Lanvinofficial #Parfums of her verses like 1933 #EaudeLanvin: “Un épouvantail, rien de mieux/Pour faire peur à la malchance/Et que fuient les jours malheureux/A l’aube de l’an qui commence/#Lanvin le dresse de ses vœux/Pour vous Madame et pour vous Monsieur”. She was #Chanel’s confidante too: “Ad appena vent’anni ho fonda to una casa di moda @Chanelofficial. Non fu la creazione di un artista né quella di una donna d’affari, ma l’opera di un essere che cercava solo la libertà». Si conclude così la biografia che #CocoChanel raccontò alla scrittrice Louise de Vilmorin, protagonista delle serate letterarie e mondane dei salotti del tempo, perché questa ne desse una versione letteraria e brillante. #Etti et #Louise ont toujours su cueillir l’irrévérence de l’intelligence aux falaises de l’aventure.
