PURETÉ PRIMITIVE
_
Fifteenth-century Flemish painting was #Alex anderMcQueen’s favourite embrace of art. Because of the colours, because of the sympathetic way their painters approached life. They were very modern for their times, in that period and in that part of the world. In Fl anders they paint with a view to external precision or such things as may cheer you and of which you cannot speak ill, as for example, saints and prophets. They paint objects and masonry, the green grass of the fields, the sha dows of trees, and rivers and bridges, which they call l andscapes, with many figures on this side and many figures on that one. And all this, though it pleases some persons, is done without skilful choice of boldness and, finally, without substance or vigour. That’s what @WorldMcQueen captures: a moment in time that is spontaneous and that reflects where we are. It’s an #SS16 of pureté primitive, sentiment, for frailty and a edge-softness chrétienne that was embroidered in the clothing’s as it was embedded in the paintings back then #SarahBur ton keeps pushing boundaries, next season she is ornerely ornamentally romantic around the edges of .. #McQueen’s anarchy. “I just use things that people want to hide in their head. Things about war, religion, sex, things that we all think about but don’t bring to the forefront. But I do and force them [us] to watch it. And then they start saying it’s gross and I’m like: ‘Actually love, you were already thinking about all this so don’t lie to me.’”. Rest in peace.
