L’APRÉS-GARDE
TOMORROW THE HEW YESTERDAY
_

@GarethPugh’s revolts against today’s listless gender attitude. His sensibilities are far from the asexual neutralité ambiante. So he tapped the eighties to wave androgyny from its languidness. His sar torial feminism rose to master past conceptions of emancipation in today’s vibrant colors of power. This is an inspiring #AW16 where every woman’s capacity to meet a challenge may well be limitless.

“The excitement of today is the free dom of the individual to make his own choice and the vast range of possibilities from which he may choose.” David Hicks take on uniqueness was #Anderson’s mot to for next fall. More than any time, a woman’s edge is of her own choosing. @JW_Anderson did seek the sputnik-y sixties with their ruffles, zips, metallics, waves and colors to provoke a revival on her style and strength. #ClaudeMontana would applaud it.

By deliberately confusing the retro canons of eras and genders, #GarethPugh and #JWAnderson did invite a confrontation with l’avant-garde d’avant translating it in to today’s modernity. You would say, déjà-vu. Not quiet, permit me. They used a subconsciously collective awareness of a style signature to reinterpret it with fabrics, flavory, and aspirations of what should be our next in our identity. They are inventing a new language, l’aprés-garde, a nouvelle vague of today where tomorrow is the hew, not the new, yesterday. Pugh and #Anderson get it, powerfully. This is a time for liberal elitist heroines and they reach for the stars.
