In 2014, we were mesmerized by a true ballet de défilés mimés where seven former supermodels of the heyday eighties graced us with a conceptual performance art piece. At a time when #fashion is characterized by the phenomenon of overproduction, these women posed with only their memories and their words, relieved of the baggage of clothing in a theatricalized take on #couture’s défilé. One by one, #ChristineBergstrom, #AxelleDoue #CharlotteFlossaut, #ClaudiaHui dobro, #AnneRohart, #VioletaSanchez, and #AmailaVairelli relived the dresses of famous fashion designers, from @SoniaRykiel to @CommedesGarcons, embodying in words and characterizing the fabric scultures that each has “been” during their moment on the runway. Like her sister, the s tore-win dow mannequin, the fashion model is a creature of silence who is not permitted to make her voice heard, neither from a podium nor in pho tography. The very nature of the gestural charisma and the plasticity required of a model plunge her in to the most absolute of silences. She is denied a voice. Yet she is quietly the loudest, the fiercest and the most feminine. #ModelsNeverTalk, curated by #OlivierSaillard embraced not only the models but women where their voices became an abstract pattern of clothing memories. Models fought for sexual gender, diversity, health issues, and equality, while parading in silence. Silenced or not, women all over the world, of all creeds, are strong, empathetic, resourceful and wise.

We, at #ModeDiplomatique, are rejoicing with you in celebrating your power, poise and progress.

Everyday is a #WomensDay ?
