@JGalliano’s work is never funny, but his designs are so ferocious, so cult-like, so superior, and even slightly insane that we just have to embrace them. With his first @MaisonMargiela Autumn-Winter 2015 #ArtisanalArtistry #Hautecouture collection, which I found myself flash-backing #ReiKawakubo’s #AW1991, #JohnGalliano’s obis, neoprenes, silks, prints, linings and (tegaki-basten) #japanese techniques are a startling comeback for a designer that had to loose himself to find himself: a new one ruining a trend that’s not even popular yet but is about to be so. Because #fashion right now is so seventies. It takes courage. #Courage, though useful in time of selfies ( and seventies), is subordinate to knowledge of arts, artistry, artisanship, and .. change. Because the fundamental human problem is that people are afraid of change. There are more fearful people that don’t necessarily want or need strong new clothes, that there are not enough of us believing in the same thing, that there is a kind of burnout, that people just want cheap fast fashion and are happy to look like everyone else, that the flame of creation has gone a bit cold, that enthusiasm, cynicism and passionate anger for change and rattling the status quo is weakening. We all are digital. Even our souls are becoming digital. Monsieur #Galliano seems to be always looking on the other side, where questioning, disorienting and designing are a constant mot to-manifes to, creating something that could almost—but not quite—be unders tood by everyone. Oh and sell it. @JGalliano is a #hero for many of us. Always have been. Always will be.
