Oscar Aristides Renta Fiallo left his beloved Dominican Republic at the age of 18 to study painting in Spain. He soon ab doned that pursuit to learn everything he could about fashion, apprenticing with Cris tobal Balenciaga and assisting at Lanvin. He went out on his own in 1965, and that was that. Ladies of high society have relied on him ever since for color, refinement, and a touch of the Latin exotic in their wardrobes.
