NEW YORK | SPRING SUMMER 2015 | LACOSTE
LIFE IS A BEAUTIFUL BILL CUNNINGHAM
Sailing Sar toria. Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s vision lead him to research the nautical heritage to design a collection that revived 1985 and 1986, when, along with one of the most prestigious French yachting manufacturers, LACOSTE designed the L42, followed by the L36, two sailing boats that combined style, nonchalance and performance. Blue, white, red, yellow, orange, lilac, pale mint, grey and deep purple washed out light cot ton veils, subtle ties and denims, along with micro gingham, “caviar” piqué, as well as nautical stripes with a bold “27” that are knitted from two threads or appliqué lace.
The silhouette is all about mix- and-match of contrasts: close-fitted and subtly oversized volumes, technical pieces, parkas, and blousons jackets with welded or zigzag seams. blazers and fisherman smocks, cuts and supple asymmetrical constructions, juxtaposes sail-like yokes that play with transparency, weight and shine. Adjustable straps, suspenders and belts infused a nuanced versatilité. It was all maritime, breezy and sassy. My favorites Ine Neefs and Clément Chabernaud made it .. magnétique in a hip hop charged pace setting orchestrated by Alex andre de Betak. Life is a beautiful sport ! Blue Bill loved it !
