The designer debut is also a new brand for Men, which he has given its name. Guglielmo Capone, of Sicilian origin, has an extensive experience in the world of knitting. To launch this ambitious project, he has teamed with Tiziano Sgarbi (founder with his wife Simona Barbieri of label Twin Set).

The entrepreneur recently took over the Semi-Couture line of Erika Cavallini. He has also invested a few years ago in the feminine brand of accessible luxury Liviana Conti, and wanted to diversify by developing a new concept in the male segment, with a different position. Today Liviana Conti turnover is €16 million and is distributed in 600 multi-brand outlets, of which 300 in Italy and 300 abroad.

“Guglielmo Capone will have a totally separate management and distribution with respect to Liviana Conti. This is a men’s line with a contemporary medium-high positioning. We propose a fairly sophisticated product with a very attractive price. We want it to be sober style, yet not formal, with a touch of fashion. and much will aim to knitting.” says Aldo Di Bernardo, CEO of Liviana Conti.

The Autumn Winter 2014 2015 collection, produced in Italy, will be composed of 130-140 pieces, including about sixty pieces dedicated to knitting and roughly 80 pieces of leather and accessory, with a prevalence of outerwear’s.

40 years old Guglielmo Capone has worked previously for Max Mara and Malo, and is business savvy. He had launched a few years ago a women’s collection by opening his own boutiques.

Capone tipped to be present, already with the first collection shown today, in eighty to hundred’s among the most important high-end multi-brand boutiques and a very select number of showrooms with a strong presence in the “fashion man.” market.

“We want to immediately cut through developing international distribution in strategic markets in Europe, Russia, Japan, the Middle East and China. A nice challenging project.”, said Aldo Di Bernardo, without revealing anything about the investments dedicated to the project. The collection debut was all about knitwear, which included a range of roomy cardigans, turtlenecks and round collar sweaters in thick wool with a melange effect.

Capone also designed a knitted stretch mohair parka, while he worked tweed for a casual but chic suit with drop-crotch pants.
