MOSCOW | SPRING SUMMER 2014 | ALENA AKHMADULLINA

Lady Peasant ..

Alena Akhmadullina Spring Summer 2014 was about “The Belkin Tales” by Pushkin. First published anonymously in 1830, Alex ander Pushkin’s Tales of Belkin contains his first prose works. It is comprised of an introduc tory note and five linked s tories, ostensibly collected by the scholar Ivan Belkin. The s tories center variously around military figures, the wealthy, and businessmen; this beautiful novella gives a vivid portrait of nineteenth century Russian life.

It has become, as well, one of the most beloved books in Russian literary his tory, and symbolic of the popularity of the novella form in Russia. In fact, it has become the namesake for Russia’s most prestigious annual literary prize, the Belkin Prize, given each year to a book voted by judges to be the best novella of the year.

As in the very early fairy tales, Alena Akhmadullina brought before us an acquiescent courtyard in all its rich Mohammedan, quite formed, volumetric models, performed in dense tissue, with bright ornaments. They were as seducing to imagination as to a luxurious clothing clawing.

Another theme of Alena’s Spring Summer 2014 collection related to the Oriental theme: an Afghani Taliban feel from their traditional and military costumes.

Besides Alena Akhmadullina, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia presented Spring-Summer collections of Russian designers such as: Tatyana Parfionova, Chapurin, BEssARION, Igor Gulyaev, Dasha Gauser, MASHA KRAVTSOVA, Julia Dalakian, RUBAN, PIROSMANI BY JENYA MALYGINA, POUSTOVIT, BIRYUKOV, Viva Vox, Lena Tsokalenko, TEGIN, Ester Abner, ZARINA, Laroom, MARI AXEL, Olga Brovkina, Julia Nikolaeva, ELENA SOUPROUN, Georgy Rushev, RIA KEBURIA, Maroussia Zaitseva, MASTERPEACE by Evgenia Linovich, GOGA NIKABADZE, and Yanina Vekhteva.
