¡El Perú está de moda!

Peru is the guest country of honor this Spring Summer 2014 in Spain.

Three renowned Peruvian designers will be putting on a show together: Meche Correa, Sitka Semsch and Jessica Butrich [pic of the presentation at the Embassy of Perú in Madrid yesterday].

“Thanks to the work of the Peruvian commerce offices in Spain and Lima Fashion Week, we’ve been able to have a representative of Madrid Fashion Week come to Peru during Lima’s fashion shows and Perú Moda so they can see the different Peruvian designers that modeled their work at the events. And now we’ve been able to send a group of our designers there so they can show their collections in Spain,” Lima Fashion Week direc tor Carlos Andrés Luna explained.

“We want Peru to become a real beacon of fashion and of creativity, like what’s already happened with Peruvian food. This is the first door that’s opening up for us as a group at an international level.” said designer Sitka Semsch. Sitka has interned chez Michael Kors and shown collections all over the world, as well as operating her own boutique label here in Peru.

Semsch, Correa, and Butrich will showcase on Sept. 16 on the Bertha Benz Runway in Madrid’s Plaza de Cibeles.
