JC de CASTELBAJAC is kidnapping the colors and the .. ghosts for the opening primetime show “ tome-de-jean-charles-de-castelbajac-en/” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer”>Festival Mode et Design Montreal tomorrow Wednesday, July 31 – 9:00 PM – Main Stage.
Yesterday, the French Fashion Art Agita tor, vetted 35 aspiring models in what has become à la mode un casting sauvage. With his two sons Louis-Marie (designer of the upcoming .. cognac Armagnac 700) & Guilhem (designer of rugs, taxi lights & furniture), his fiancée AÏ Kanno, his assistantes Sophie Beaufour & Penelope Strintz, and Montreal Fashion Stylist-a in fierce Sophie Lanza, he quested and questioned attitudes and altitudes.
“Je veux des fantômes, pas des zombies.”, passionately haranguing the girls on the runway. All for an artistic performance created by Jean-Charles and Mr Nô, Electro-Extraordinaire who played in Fabric (Lon don), Razzmatazz (Barcelona), Rex club, Social club (Paris), Hacienda (Manchester), Springfestival (Austria), Melusina (Luxembourg) to name a few.
Derived from the Sino-Japanese word for “skill" or “talent", Nô (or Noh) theater is a major form of classical Japanese musical drama that has been performed since the 14th century. Many characters are masked, with men playing male and female roles .. or ghosts. With long time partner VJ Florian CARDINALE (aka DVP), he will perform a live show that convinced Jean-Charles de Castelbajac for the second time (after Lille3000 in 2012) to juncture couture, art and technology where 60 models will become 60 ghosts dressed in «Pop Tribal» inspired tunics.
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is a crea tor both emblematic and visionary of our time. A talent revealer, he has collaborated with renowned international artists such as Katy Perry, Kanye West, M.I.A, even Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, for whom he has created several costumes. Bringing together the worlds of art and fashion, his taste for the all things out of the ordinary quickly earned him the title of «Roi du Dé tournement»: waxed canvas, mops and Velpeau b andages, plaid, camouflage fabric and protective nylon, two-person or inflatable ponchos, not to mention painting and tribute dresses, oversized clothing referred to as “Gulliver” style, and famous car toons sweaters.
