Amsterdam | H.R.H. Queen Máxima of the Netherl ands signé Jan Taminiau

April 30, or Queen’s day, is always a day for partying in the Netherl ands, and this year’s investiture has been his toric. Queen Beatrix of the Netherl ands abdicated, after 33 years in the role, h anding over to her eldest son, Willem-Alex ander, who became the first King of the Netherl ands in over 120 years. Princess Máxima Zorreguieta, the Argentinian banker became de fac to H.R.H. Queen of the Netherl ands today.

The designer Jan Taminiau is ecstatic: “Toen ik werd gevraagd om deze jurk te mogen ontwerpen voelde ik me vooral nederig. Voor mij is het een jongensdroom die uitkomt: het mogen kleden van de koningin van Nederl and. Ik voel me trots dat ik als Nederl andse ontwerper een bijdrage mag leveren aan dit mooie moment.”

Queen Maxima received an economics degree in 1995, eventually working for a string of international banks in her home town of Buenos Aires, then New York and Brussels. Her father was a Ministre under the Argentine regime of General Jorge Videla in the 1970s.
