Mercedes-Benz China Fashion Week | WANG PEIYI

China leading young designer, Wang Peiyi was widely praised at last month’s Milan fashion week. “This collection is based on what I did in Milan last month, there were 35 designs in Milan. I added more of my personal favorites, so now there are forty. But the basic theme remains the same.”

As a Beijing-based stylist, Wang has always favored the use of elegant fabrics and abundant decorations with beads, embroidery and other fine customized handwork. Li Xiaoxing, a model, said, “I’m actually wearing a modified version of a cheong-sam. The fringe and embroidery is actually the shape of phoneix’s tale. I think Wang is really an expert in bringing out oriental beauty with Chinese elements”. Another distinct oriental feature is his approach to displaying feminine appeal. Wang has a very luxuriant design, with beaded decorations all hand made. Wang highlights the state of feminine beauty and sexual appeal.

Wang received abundant recognition both within and outside the fashion industry, being named in 2011 as one of the 25 Most Influential Chinese designers in Global Fashion by Forbes. This led to his sparkling run to further success that included making his debut at the closing event of the Milan fashion week in late February this year. And his subtle mystery designs continued to shine in at the China fashion week this week.
