MODE À PARIS | AH1314 | Marfa à porter. Le Pari(s) Texas de VERONIQUE BRANQUINHO
Launching her eponymous label in the fall of 1997, Veronique Branquinho began expertly tailoring her designs in a Chanel-like homage to the female form to almost immediate critical success. The look continues to be characterized by a sense of modesty and decorum: long skirts, military but tons, and a dark palette even make their way in to spring collections, yet the vibe is more edgy-professional than uptight austere. The chicness and clean lines of a Branquinho jacket or boot inspire a whole crop of devoted urban-dwelling women, and her work has been the subject of several retrospectives on contemporary Flemish fashion design. An eyewear line and a flagship boutique in Antwerp round out the label’s br and portfolio. Her Fall 2013 | Winter 2014 is a strong woman inspired from MARFA PRADA, an homage to artists Elmgreen and Dragset. The installation was inaugurated on Oc tober 1, 2005. The artists called the work a “pop architectural l and art project.”. Branquinho brought the hat, the sculpture and the minimalism to a “Pop Art Couture”.
