Montreal. Friday. December 21, 2012. The end is the beginning.

This city is a bilingual ghet to.

Les Français shop at la Rue Laurier in Outremont. The English-esque shop at Greene Avenue in Westmount.

What is interesting in the context is the way both adresses unfold his tory and prestige. Greene Avenue is my favorite for Christmas shopping. Why? Various renditions of fashion, jewelery, shoes and books seem to visualize both the presence of the dialectics between past and present, present and future. Mind you, trends are nothing new, so to speak, and neither is the shopping in Greene. Yet, the couturiers, the bijoutiers, the galleristes, the bouquinistes, the esthéticiennes, and the boulevardières de mode shift their espaces from dream to reality, from retro to new vintage. Every year. Haughtily.

Now that the world has not ended, get yourself a wonderful sense, such as even the best promenade couldn’t quite give, de l’ Avenue Greene in action from door to door, living in the thick of chic, hustling your wishes forward. Joyeux Noël !
